Exide Manufacturing Statistics: Factories, Capacity and Product Range

Exide Industries reported 11 manufacturing factories in FY2024-25. Its stated capacity was 66 million automotive batteries per year, alongside 7.6 billion ampere-hours per year for non-automotive and stationary-power products.

FY2024-25 manufacturing measure Reported figure Definition
Manufacturing factories 11 Company manufacturing footprint
Automotive-battery capacity 66 million per year Capacity, not actual production or sales
Non-automotive and stationary-power capacity 7.6 billion Ah per year Capacity, not actual output
Portfolio rated range 2.5–20,200 Ah Product capacities across the portfolio

The reported battery portfolio spans 2.5 Ah to 20,200 Ah, a range describing rated product capacities rather than one product or one battery format. Gross block was ₹6,245 crore in FY2024-25, and capex spend over the three years through FY2024-25 was ₹1,223 crore.

The company also reported more than 560 trademarks registered in India and more than 170 trademarks in overseas markets during FY2024-25. These greater-than figures describe registered trademarks, not market share.

All manufacturing, capacity, investment and trademark figures in this section come from the Exide Industries Limited Integrated Annual Report 2024-25.

Exide Workforce, Research and Distribution Statistics

Exide Industries reported more than 5,100 permanent employees and workers and more than 15,500 contractual employees and workers in FY2024-25. The two populations are reported separately and should not be interpreted as a single independently reconciled headcount.

Workforce and capability measures included:

  • R&D expenditure over the three years through FY2024-25 was ₹80 crore.
  • Training, wellbeing and welfare spending over the same three-year period was ₹107 crore.
  • Workforce training exceeded 570,000 man-hours in FY2024-25.
  • The permanent-employee diversity ratio was 4.63% in FY2024-25; the indexed disclosure does not provide further denominator detail.
  • The differently-abled workforce was reported as 2.6 times higher than two years earlier; the baseline count was not provided.

Exide Industries also reported a pan-India channel-partner network exceeding 120,000 in FY2024-25. Channel partners are not necessarily unique legal entities, so this network count is not equivalent to a count of retail stores or customers.

The company reported that more than 375,000 people were positively impacted by CSR initiatives and that more than 100,000 children and youth benefited through education and skilling in FY2024-25. These are company-reported beneficiary counts, not independently measured causal outcomes.

The workforce, research, channel and CSR figures are from the Exide Industries Limited Integrated Annual Report 2024-25.

Exide Recycling Statistics and Circular-Economy Data

The recycling figures cover different corporate entities and different geographies. Exide Technologies reported that its smelters recovered 96,066 tons of lead in FY2024 from batteries and other lead materials, with the recovered lead reported as reused in new batteries.

Recycling measure Entity and period Reported figure Scope or limitation
Recovered lead Exide Technologies, FY2024 96,066 tons Batteries and other lead materials
Secondary-recycled share of purchased lead and alloys Exide Technologies, FY2024 Average 75% Input share, not all battery mass
Installed refining capacity Chloride Metals, FY2025-26 page update 346 KMT/year Capacity, not actual throughput
Recycled lead and lead-alloy input Exide Industries, FY2025-26 page update About 79% Production-input share
Recycled plastics input Exide Industries, FY2025-26 page update About 16% Production-input share

Exide Technologies reported 100% recyclability for a lead battery and estimated that 99% of automotive lead batteries are recycled in Europe. The first is a product recyclability claim and the second is a company infographic estimate; actual recovery depends on collection and processing systems, and the excerpt does not fully detail the population or calculation basis.

For Exide Industries, Chloride Metals’ 346 KMT per year of installed refining capacity was described as meeting about 50% of the company’s total lead and lead-alloy requirement. Exide Industries also reported more than 99% recyclability of lead in its recycling operations; these are company estimates or sustainability claims, not independently audited end-of-life recovery rates.

The Exide Technologies measures are from the Exide Technologies ESG Report 2024. Exide Industries’ recycling and input measures are from the Exide sustainability page.

Exide Emissions, Renewable Energy and Resource-Use Statistics

Exide Industries reported that renewables supplied more than 24% of its electricity mix in the FY2025-26 page update. Its reported installed renewable capacity included 95.3 MWp of solar and 11.7 MW of wind; installed capacity is not the same as electricity generated.

Renewable-energy use was estimated to avoid more than 93,000 tCO2e in the reported year. Exide Industries reported Scope 1 plus Scope 2 emissions intensity of 25.82 tCO2e per MAh at the FY2024 baseline and 22.46 tCO2e per MAh in FY2026, alongside a company-reported 15.6% reduction against that baseline.

Exide Industries emissions measure Period Figure Interpretation
Scope 1 + Scope 2 intensity FY2024 baseline 25.82 tCO2e/MAh Company-defined intensity measure
Scope 1 + Scope 2 intensity FY2026 22.46 tCO2e/MAh Company-defined intensity measure
Reported intensity reduction FY2026 versus FY2024 15.6% Not an absolute-emissions change
Renewable-electricity target FY2030 30% Forecast target, not achieved result

The denominator MAh and reporting boundaries are company-defined, so intensity movement should not be read as a direct measure of absolute emissions. The FY2030 target of 30% renewable electricity is a target rather than a realized result.

Exide Technologies reported 2,188,197 cubic metres of operational water use and 44,546 tons of waste in FY2024. Hazardous waste represented 86% of that reported waste under the company’s classification.

These figures are drawn from the Exide sustainability page and the Exide Technologies ESG Report 2024.

Exide Safety, Community Impact and Governance Measures

Exide Industries reported a 0.02 worker LTIFR and zero worker fatalities in FY2025-26. It also reported a 96% UCUA closure rate; UCUA is a company safety-management measure that the page does not expand.

Health-and-safety training exceeded 198,000 man-hours in FY2025-26. The company reported that CSR initiatives positively impacted more than 405,000 people, with more than 85% of beneficiaries from vulnerable and marginalised groups, and that employees contributed more than 17,500 CSR volunteering man-hours.

Its India distribution and service footprint in the FY2025-26 page update included more than 1,600 Exide Care outlets, more than 600 SF Batteries franchisees, more than 60 warehouses and more than 18,000 rural outreach touchpoints. These are greater-than company network counts rather than measures of transactions or customer outcomes.

Finally, Exide Industries reported 100% board and committee meeting attendance in the reported period. That governance measure indicates attendance only; it does not measure meeting quality, decisions or outcomes.

The safety, CSR, network and governance figures are from the Exide sustainability page. Company sustainability pages are self-reported corporate disclosures, and their percentages, intensity measures and beneficiary classifications use company-defined boundaries and denominators.
